The Lola Challenge Weekend has been held in Puerto Rico since 2014. It brings together local and international runners and consists of completing three different races: (5km, 10km and Half Marathon) in three consecutive days.
The event was created by Run Like a Lola Inc., a non-profit entity, whose mission is to help Puerto Rican women through sports, so that they improve their physical and mental health while increasing their self-esteem, spreading these benefits throughout their family environment.
“Each year we increase the number of runners. We have donated over USD145,000 to different Puerto Rican entities that need that economic contribution to continue providing services,” said Zenaida Gutiérrez, president of the Board of Directors of Run Like a Lola.
Now with more than 3500 runners the Lola Challenge Weekend has become a successful forum for exercise enthusiasts and those aspiring to a healthy lifestyle. It has also been an excellent platform for sports tourism, with a great economic impact on the hospitality and gastronomy sectors on the Island.
The internationally recognized sporting event has had participants from many US states and countries in Europe and South America.
