Get moving in Muscat

Oman’s most popular mass participation event is a two-day festival of running at Muscat’s most luxurious destination. Oman Sail is partnering with Oman’s premier Sports Agency, Sabco Sports, to ensure that the 2022 event will be the biggest Muscat Marathon yet.

First held in 2012 the Muscat Marathon was originally organised by Muscat Road Runners who remain a key part of the event team. Since then it has grown annually both in size and impact to become a global event of increasing standing. The 2020 event saw over 10,000 registrations and the organisers expect a new record to be set as Oman comes out of the Covid pandemic.

As in previous years the marathon will be held on the first day of the weekend, Friday 11 February, along with the half marathon, marathon relay and the 10km run. The popular 5km run and all the Kids Runs (over three distances) will again be held on the second day of the weekend, Saturday 12 February.

The 2022 route will continue to take in the beautiful coastal sites along the shoreline of the Arabian Peninsula and will be run through the Al Mouj Muscat property. With ideal running temperatures and a flat course the Al Mouj Muscat Marathon is a perfect event for both local and international runners.
