We offer you the best running conditions in summery Europe – the most beautiful archipelago in the world combined with fresh air and three options: 10km, a half marathon and a marathon There is also a minimarathon for children.
As one of the most popular marathons in Finland we expect 5000 participants to gather in the centre of the oldest city in Finland for the 30th anniversary race. This event has become a classic for Finns with an increasing number of foreign runners appearing on the starting line as well.
The children’s minimarathon is new, and free not only for children but also for parents running with their kids.
Finnish marathon events are prestigious not only in Finland but all around the world. Paavo Nurmi Marathon is a long-time member of AIMS and guarantees world class services for participants.
The course includes a unique archipelago, the atmospheric River Aura riverside, historical Turku Castle and the renewed Turku City Theatre Hall. Sunny summer weather attracts thousands of people to the riverside to cheer for the runners.
The event first took in place in 1991 and was first organised over two days last year. The 10km and 5km race were held on the first day. They started at 20.00 and 21.00 so that running alongside the River Aura at night was even more atmospheric.
Every participant gets their own medal after the race. This year a T-shirt is not included within the entry fee but every participant can buy one of our customised T-shirts.
As an August event Turku offers a holiday combined with running in the most beautiful archipelago in the world – the best way to make the most of your summer. Elsewhere in Europe it is often too hot for running but in Finland we have perfect running weather in August – come and feel it for yourself.
Finland also offers the cleanest air in the world. In Turku nature and the city live side by side and it is only couple of kilometres from the city centre to the Baltic Sea.
Turku is the original capital of Finland. While running the route of the Paavo Nurmi Marathon you can feel a swish of history. The beautiful old city is right in the middle of the marathon route. You can also see the riverbank favoured by the locals. The beauty of nature pleases the eye everywhere you look.
