First held two years ago, Phukethon has risen like a shining star above the Andaman Sea to be recognised as one of the premier running festivals in all of Southeast Asia.

On an island famous for sun, sea, sand, stellar cuisine and exciting nightlife, the event weekend begins on Saturday afternoon at 16.00 with the Jelly Beach Run at beautiful Naiharn Beach.

The Jelly Beach 5km is a fun beach run for everyone. Enjoy the afternoon vibes with music, sand, surf and a fun warm-up. Before the run starts participants join together for a beach clean-up session to help sustain the local environment for all to enjoy. After the run there is nothing better than jumping into the warm waters of the Andaman Sea to celebrate your finish.

On Sunday the excitement shifts to Saphan Hin for the next series of races, starting with the Cape Marathon at 03.15.

The Cape Marathon 42km is a majestic, challenging course sending runners through Phuket Old Town before meandering towards the Cape – the highest point on Phuket Island. After making the turn at the Cape’s summit, the course winds back down towards Rawi beach, a bustling destination full of traditional fishing boats and local businesses. There is one final right turn as participants head back to Phuket Town and on to the finish line at Saphan Hin.

The Bay Half Marathon begins at 04.45 at Saphan Hin and also takes runners through the Old Town before heading down to the bay. As you get to the bay turn around point a spectacular sea view opens up, heralding arrival at the beautiful bay and port. After the turnaround participants will return to finish their journey at the park in Saphan Hin.

The Old Town 10km is the final race of the morning, starting at 05.15. Runners surge through the streets of Phuket Town like a wave of many colours as locals cheer them on. The streets are lined with boutique coffee shops, restaurants and art galleries. Old Phuket town is a great place to spend a day walking and enjoying the abundant food and many taste choices of southern Thailand. Phuket Town is only minutes from the start and finish areas of the 10km, Half Marathon and Marathon.

After completing the marathon, half marathon, or 10km, your Thailand Phukethon experience does not end there. Accept a complimentary fresh coconut to refresh and recharge before starting the remainder of the day’s activities. Thai tradition always includes serving delicious food after the event so take your time to relax, eat, and indulge in “Sabai” – a Thai word which reflects a feeling of physical wellness and contentment.

Phuket is a diverse island and sports paradise for outdoor enthusiasts. Take time to discover many of its hidden treasures including nature trails, food, art, resorts, along with nightlife and entertainment. Phuket offers something for everyone to enjoy and remember forever.

Race packet pick up for the Marathon, half and 10km at the Expo in Saphan Hin is on Friday 8 November (10.00–22.00) and Saturday 9 November (10.00–19.00).

On Saturday 9 November the Jelly Beach Run packet pick up is from 10.00 – 15.00 at Naiharn Beach.
