Bangsaen21 Half Marathon
Sun 16 December 2018
Thailand is famously known as “The land of smiles” and is full of fascinating arts and culture. Bangsaen, in Chonburi province, is the nearest beach resort to Bangkok and Suvarnabhumi International Airport. The race is held during December, the best month for running, with its warm breezes and refreshing temperatures.
Bangsaen21 Half Marathon is organised under the concept of “The Finest Running Event Ever”. The event has become a popular annual fixture with Thai runners and offers distances of 5km, 10km and half marathon.
The certified course allows runners to enjoy seaside views including the Sam Muk Mountain, the spirit of which is supposed to afford protection to the nearby fishing community. There is a Chinese shrine on the summit of the 45m hill, which offers panoramic views of the bay, while wild monkeys abound on the slopes. Runners will also enjoy local hospitality and cheering. Not to be missed are the local foods and menus which are offered at the free food festival for all runners.
A race highlight is the 100 fastest men’s and women’s awards. These go to runners who finish with a time ranked within the 100 fastest-ever times in the overall category. The award is a signature of Sam Muk Mountain with the monkey doll names Sammy (male) and Mukkie (female). Each year it becomes more and more of a challenge for runners to win the award.
If you are a runner who wants to experience the joy and fun of running abroad you should come to race in Thailand. We invite you to run the Bangsaen21 Half Marathon and race your very own Finest Running Event Ever.
