Runners start their challenge as the morning sunrise cracks over the mountains. In the early stages the route heads north along the Israeli-Jordanian border and then westward into the Negev Desert towards Shchoret Mountain. A steady ascent climbs 286m to the highest point of the course.

On descending back to Eilat runners are treated to a magnificent mountain panorama spreading across the territory of four different countries – Israel, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and Egypt – all wrapped around the Gulf of Aqaba.

Eilat is where the desert meets the sea and the sun shines all year round.
