São Paulo International Half Marathon Corpore
Sun 10 April 2016
The race has been held since 2000 and is promoted by the Corpore club, one of Brazil’s longest-standing and most important running organisations. It is well-supported by ‘Paulistas’ and runners come from all parts of the country along with significant numbers from other countries. Sao Paulo is easily able to accommodate them all, being the largest city in Latin America. It offers excellent hotels, internationally award-winning restaurants, world-class museums and an intense cultural life.
There is more. In addition to being cosmopolitan,São Paulo is also a city of runners. There are no less than 170 official races every year — one every couple of days. But among them all the São Paulo International Half-Marathon stands out. It has been affiliated with AIMS since inception and in 2009 hosted the 17th World Congress.
The course offers runners a good chance to beat their personal bests with an almost perfectly flat profile. Being held during autumn the climate at that time is favourable for performance and the race starts at 07.00 to ensure that the sun is not too strong. Runners describe the route as a “carpet” which guides them through scenic places shaded by trees. It is a real dive into the culture and heart of the largest Brazilian metropolis.
The race organisers assist the smooth passage of runners by seeding at the start according to recorded finish times and by offering the services of pacers to help runners maintain their desired pace and reach their target times.
Whether it be simply to add a half marathon race to your resume, visit a cosmopolitan city or even to run for your personal best São Paulo International Half-Marathon is the perfect competition for all seeking a great race and a unique experience.
