Blackmores Sydney Running Festival (incl. Sydney Marathon)
Sun 20 September 2015
The Blackmores Sydney Marathon is one of the world’s most scenic with dazzling views of Sydney Harbour throughout the course.
The event offers the unique opportunity of crossing the iconic Harbour Bridge in traffic free conditions right at the start of your marathon. Other spectacular sights you pass on the route include one of Sydney’s most treasured religious buildings, St Mary’s Cathedral, the historic sandstone buildings of the Rocks area, leafy Centennial Park and colourful Oxford Street, home to Sydney’s Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras. The race finish line is in an unrivalled location at the world famous Opera House.
Participants are invited to celebrate their achievements after the race in the Blackmores Recovery Village located in the Royal Botanic Gardens with views over the Harbour and of the Bridge.
The Recovery Village provides food and drink stands, massage tents, stage entertainment and giveaways. A public bar gives participants and their family and friends the chance to toast their achievements while taking in some of the most spectacular sights of Sydney.
The race is staged in Australia’s early Spring. Temperatures at night are around 10C and during the day up to 25C: perfect conditions for running, walking and sightseeing.
There is an extended course cut-off time of six hours which allows more time for runners to complete their marathon. This makes the Blackmores Sydney Marathon more accessible for first-time marathon runners and for those who like to take their marathon at a more leisurely pace.
