For the second consecutive year, and in response to the growing demand for entries, Maratona Clube de Portugal will once again use a ballot system to allocate spots for the 2027 edition of the EDP Lisbon Half Marathon.
Open since April 23 and running until May 19 (6:00 PM local time), the ballot has already recorded more applicants than the total number of entries from the previous year. This surge highlights the continuous growth and international prestige the Lisbon race has achieved.
In 2026—the year Jacob Kiplimo set a new world record (57:20) in the men’s race—the number of ballot applications was 288% higher than the available spots.
Expectations for 2027 are even higher. However, for logistical reasons and to ensure the high-quality standards that define Maratona Clube de Portugal’s organization, the number of participants will again be limited to 20,000 athletes.
Parallel to the ballot, entries remain available through Maratona Clube de Portugal’s official partners, specifically tour operators and charity institutions.
