Score Marathon
Sat 18 July 2026
Score Marathon 2026 by AIA Vitality is one of Malaysia’s fastest-growing running events.
This year’s edition in Putrajaya on 18-19 July is expected to attract a record 50,000 runners. Organisers are bidding for Malaysia Book of Records recognition as the country’s largest running event.
What began in 2014 as a modest community run has evolved into one of the country’s most recognised mass participation races. For the first time in its history, the marathon will be staged over two days, reflecting the strong growth of recreational running in Malaysia.
The race weekend begins with the 5km and 10km events on 18 July followed by the half marathon and full marathon the next morning, when runners set off before sunrise through the broad avenues of Malaysia’s administrative capital.
The course takes participants through the heart of Putrajaya, a city known for its striking bridges, grand boulevards and scenic waterfront. Runners pass stretches of Putrajaya Lake while crossing several of the city’s iconic bridges, enjoying views that make the race both visually memorable and runner-friendly.
With its relatively flat terrain and wide roads, the course appeals to both newcomers and experienced runners seeking fast times. As daylight rises over the lake and the city skyline, runners are greeted by enthusiastic volunteers and spectators who help to create a lively race-day atmosphere.
New elements have been introduced this year reflecting the growing maturity of Malaysia’s running community. The Score Double Challenge allows participants to test their endurance by competing in two races across the two days.
A High Performance Category has also been introduced for established runners targeting podium finishes in the 42km, 21km and 10km races, with entry restricted to athletes who meet qualifying standards.
The marathon continues to attract an increasingly international field, with runners from more than 55 countries expected to take part. Score Marathon 2026 by AIA Vitality is a member event of the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS).
Tourism Malaysia supports the race as part of efforts to promote sports tourism ahead of the Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign. The Ministry of Youth and Sports continues to champion mass participation events that encourage healthier lifestyles.
From just over 3600 runners in its inaugural edition Score Marathon by AIA Vitality has welcomed more than 159,000 participants across 11 editions and continues to establish itself as one of Southeast Asia’s emerging destination marathons.
