The well-known Swissalpine fully lives up to its reputation – rich in tradition, demanding and firmly rooted in the trail running scene.

At the same time it presents itself with a fresh new look, featuring additional hiking formats and set in the fascinating destination of Flims-Laax-Falera, which captivates participants and visitors alike. From the moment you arrive the feeling is palpable: the event village is buzzing with life, runners are collecting their bib numbers, families stroll between the stands and groups of friends exchange last-minute tips. Anticipation fills the air mixed with the quiet excitement everyone knows before a big race.

A unique atmosphere surrounds the start line. All participants – whether first-timers or seasoned Swissalpine veterans – stand side by side, focused and ready. Then the starting signal sounds and suddenly the field comes alive. Initial nervousness fades, replaced by the collective energy of the crowd. You can feel the pulse of the group, hear footsteps, laughter and cheers – an atmosphere that carries you through the opening kilometres.

The four routes of 12, 23, 42, and 78 km make the Swissalpine a truly outstanding experience. They lead across lush meadows, along the famous turquoise waters of Lake Cauma, through the spectacular Rhine Gorge – the “Grand Canyon of Switzerland” – and past the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Sardona. Further highlights include the natural glacier mills of Alp Mora, the breathtaking views from Cassonsgrat and the striking Segnesboden plateau. Each route surprises with varied terrain and stunning panoramas that linger long after the race. These special moments – the interplay of light and shadow, the sounds of nature and the vastness of the Alps – turn every metre of elevation gain into an unforgettable experience.

Even when legs grow heavy and breathing becomes laboured the sense of community keeps participants moving forward. Friendly volunteers at the aid stations, encouraging words from fellow runners and the energy of the spectators help clear the mind. Everyone is fighting their own battle yet no one is alone on the trail.

Then comes the finish line – a mix of relief, pride and joy. The final metres lead through the idyllic Flims forest before crossing the finish line. Many linger afterward, sharing impressions, laughing and taking photos.

The Swissalpine is an experience that unites community, immersion in nature and athletic challenge. A day filled with emotion, small adventures and big moments – set in one of Switzerland’s most captivating trail running destinations. The combination of spectacular scenery, diverse routes and a warm, welcoming atmosphere makes it an event participants will remember long after race day.
