Everything is ready for another historic edition of the TUI Palma Marathon Mallorca, which will take place this Sunday, 19 October, starting at 8 a.m. (10k) and 8:15 a.m. (half marathon and marathon), with 8,500 runners who sold out all available bibs more than two months in advance.

There is a particularly high number of female participants, accounting for 46% of the total number of registrations (2% more than in the previous edition), with athletes from 76 different countries joining the biggest running event in the Balearic Islands and one of the sporting and social events with the greatest economic impact in Mallorca.

The event will be streamed live on the official channels and social media accounts of TUI, the main sponsor of the event.

The 10k distance will once again feature a certified and spectacular route through the city centre, and the half marathon and the “queen” distance of the marathon will be maintained. The start and finish lines are located at the foot of Palma Cathedral, the city’s universal icon, and the expo and other parallel activities will take place from Friday onwards in the Parc de la Mar.

The expo will kick off with the now traditional ‘BreakFast Run’, which continues to grow with each edition and will have two sessions (9:30 a.m. and 10 a.m.) on Friday and, for the first time, on Saturday as well. A total of 1,000 runners will be able to kick off a lively and sporty weekend, which continues with a pasta lunch on Saturday at the Expo itself and a range of cultural activities for participants and their companions.

The event, which has a strong family focus, features up to 14 entertainment ‘hot spots’ throughout the course so that participants can enjoy a unique atmosphere and experience (DJs, live music, Dimonis, Batucadas, etc.).

This major international sporting event, which will feature a record 93% of runners from abroad, has managed for the first time in its history to fill all available places for the three distances it covers (10 kilometres, half marathon and marathon) two months in advance. The marathon was the first distance to sell out all 1,500 available bibs. The half marathon, with 4,700 runners, and the 10k, with 2,300, complete the TUI Palma Marathon Mallorca offering. In addition, the event has established itself as the race with the highest percentage of female participation in Spain and one of the highest in Europe, with 46% of total registrations being women, and a record 54% of participants in the 10k.

Another striking statistic is the age range with the most participants in the race: 25 to 29 years old, which represents a significant rejuvenation of the ‘average runner’ who, until last year, was always between 40 and 45 years old.

Most participants are German nationals (39%), while the second most represented country at the starting line will be the United Kingdom (21%).

The winners of 2023 (Shannon Barton from the United Kingdom) and 2024 (Annika Uckel from Germany) and the runner-up from last year’s edition (Hannelore Polleunis from Belgium) are returning to the marathon, so the spectacle over 42,195 metres is guaranteed.

Also returning to Palma is Britain’s Martin Bush, one of the world’s most beloved and respected popular runners, who will complete his 20th participation in the TUI Palma Marathon Mallorca next Sunday, having already crossed the finish line of more than 1,200 marathons throughout his long marathon career.

On Friday, at the pre-race press conference, Balearic triathlete Mario Mola, three-time world champion, will receive the ‘Golden Bib’ in recognition of his successful sporting career and for being a leading figure in Mallorcan sport.

TUI Palma Marathon Mallorca is organized by Kumulus, with the title sponsor and founder of the marathon TUI, the support of Palma City Council, co-financed with the “Sustainable Tourism Tax Fund” of the Balearic Government”, the support of the Fundació Mallorca Turisme and the collaboration of Proa Group, Zafiro Hotels, 361º, Fornes Logistics, and Ports de Balears, among others.
