The fourth edition of the Sarmang Dehradun Marathon, organized by Sarmang Society in association with Sarmang Adventure Tours, concluded successfully on October 5 at the International Cricket Stadium, Thano Road, Dehradun.

Recognized by AIMS (Association of International Marathons and Distance Races) and World Athletics, the event once again positioned Dehradun prominently on the global running calendar.

Runners from across India and several international participants converged in the Doon Valley to experience the marathon’s scenic yet challenging route that showcased the city’s unique blend of natural beauty and elevation diversity. The event featured multiple race categories — Full Marathon (42.195 km), Half Marathon (21.097 km), 10K, 5K, and 2K Fun Run — attracting both elite athletes and recreational runners.

The race was conducted under the supervision of RRCA Certified Race Director Mr. Anil Mohan, ensuring world-class standards of course measurement, timing accuracy, and participant safety. The Sarmang Dehradun Marathon also served as an Abbott World Marathon Majors Age Group Qualifier, further solidifying its international credibility.

Medical and physiotherapy support was provided by Kailash Hospital and Dolphin Institute, while hydration throughout the course was powered by Bisleri, the official hydration partner. The event’s sustainability drive was supported by Sarmang Society, ensuring responsible waste management and eco-friendly operations.

This year’s edition witnessed a remarkable turnout, with participants spanning diverse age groups and running backgrounds. Families, first-time runners, and seasoned marathoners ran side by side, embodying the event’s theme of unity through sport. The race route was lined with enthusiastic volunteers and spectators, turning the city into a festival of endurance and community celebration.

Speaking after the event, Mr. Anil Mohan, Race Director and Secretary of Sarmang Society, said: “Our mission has always been to bring world-class marathon experiences to India’s mountain cities. Dehradun offers the perfect terrain to challenge and inspire runners. The growing participation each year reflects our city’s evolving running culture and global appeal.”

The finishers received beautifully designed medals symbolizing Dehradun’s heritage landmarks — the Forest Research Institute, Buddha Temple, and Jhanda Ji — representing the city’s unity in diversity. E-certificates were issued to all finishers, while overall winners were felicitated with trophies and prizes.
With its increasing reputation among global running enthusiasts, the Sarmang Dehradun Marathon continues to inspire athletes and citizens alike to embrace running as a way of life. Plans are already underway for the 2026 edition, with new initiatives to enhance participant experience, sustainability, and international participation.
