The Angkor Empire Marathon (CAM), which was due to be run on Sunday 3 August, has been postponed.

In an announcement on Facebook, the organisers said that the 10th edition of the race would not take place as planned. They cited security concerns due to border conflict between Thailand and Cambodia as the reason for the postponement.

The statement said: “This difficult decision is due to escalating armed conflict and heightened tensions along the border. This situation has tragically resulted in casualties and the displacement of civilians to safe areas, including Siem Reap Province.”

“The safety of participants, staff and the local community is our paramount concern. The event will be rescheduled for a later date once circumstances improve.”
