Start

12,619 runners crossed the finish line of the 17th PKO Poznań Half Marathon — setting a new participation record for the running event in Poznań.

The winners of the race were Oqbe Kibrom Ruesom from Eritrea (01:02:23) in the men’s category and Viktoriia Kaliuzhna from Ukraine (01:12:05) among the women.

From the start, the men’s winner controlled the race and ran almost the entire distance accompanied only by his pacemaker, Kenyan Brian Limo, who finished second (01:02:30). The third to cross the finish line was Polish runner Kamil Jastrzębski, trailing the leading duo by nearly three minutes with a time of 01:05:16.

“Next year, I’ll try to come back to Poznań and fight for the win,” said Kamil Jastrzębski right after crossing the finish line.

A surprise came in the women’s race, where Viktoriia Kaliuzhna made an impressive comeback after chasing down Beatrice Chepkemoi Mutai for almost 15 kilometers. After a strong start, the Kenyan athlete faded and ultimately finished second (01:13:38). The women’s podium was completed by Ukrainian Maryna Nemchenko (01:14:55), while the top Polish finisher Sabina Jarząbek placed fourth.

For the first time in a long while, 11 wheelchair athletes returned to the half marathon course. The winner in this category was Witold Misztela with a time of 1:19:13.

The record number of runners was cheered on enthusiastically by Poznań’s ever-reliable crowd. Nineteen fan zones were set up along the course, with especially loud support at the start and finish near the iconic spire at the Poznań International Fairgrounds.

“A huge thank-you to the residents of our city for their incredible support. We asked for it before the race, and we were deeply moved by the response. Runners felt that energy at every kilometer,” said Łukasz Miadziołko, Director of the 17th PKO Poznań Half Marathon.

Runners from 36 countries participated in this year’s race. Nearly one in four finishers were first-timers, and 30% of participants were Poznań residents. We hope to see all runners and supporters again in future editions of the race.

Save the date! The 18th Poznań Half Marathon is scheduled for April 19, 2026.
