In 2025 the TCS Amsterdam Marathon will celebrate its 50th anniversary; in the same year the city of Amsterdam marks its 750th anniversary.

The very first edition of the marathon took place in 1975 with both the start and the finish at the Olympic Stadium. The special anniversary edition will take place during the weekend of Saturday, 18 October and Sunday, 19 October.

The TCS Amsterdam Marathon is a World Athletics Platinum Label Road Race that for years has had one of the fastest courses in the world. In the ranking of fastest marathon cities, the largest marathon of the Netherlands is in fourth place. Highlights of the course include the start and finish in the Olympic Stadium, the passage through the Rijksmuseum, along the Heineken Experience, and stretches along the Amstel and through the Vondelpark.

The main distance of the event is the TCS Marathon itself. Enjoy the world capital of Amsterdam and run along the most attractive passages of the city. The course in Amsterdam is known for being flat, fast and full of historical character. The start and finish take place in the historic Olympic Stadium. Every year this leaves an unforgettable impression thanks to the presence of the supporters in the terraces and the marathon grandstand. The course of the Marathon follows a part of the course of the 1928 Olympic Games alongside the Amstel River, passing by stately mansions and windmills. This rural trail offers beautiful views and gives an impression of the enormous activity that rules the Amstel every day. The course leads runners close to capital’s inner city where there are many highlights that are worth a separate sightseeing tour.

The Mizuno Half Marathon is the biggest Half Marathon in the Netherlands and is part of the TCS Amsterdam Marathon. It consists of one loop, most of which passes through the attractive city centre of Amsterdam. The course starts at the Stadionweg and goes through Churchilllaan, Rijnstraat and the Utrechtse Bridge over the Amstel River. Next you run through Watergraafsmeer and Zeeburg. The rest of the course is the same as that of the full marathon.
