Mainova Frankfurt Marathon
Sun 26 October 2025
42.195 kilometres with a view of the skyline of the banking metropolis of Frankfurt at the oldest city marathon in Germany: For many runners, this is a big wish come true.
At the very latest, crossing the finish line on the red carpet in the festival hall is overwhelming and a memory that will last for a long time. The aim of the ASB Rhein-Main Wish Car is to fulfil a heartfelt wish for people in the last phase of their lives. The wishes are as different as the people who have them. The Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund (ASB) makes these wishes come true. People who have little time left can use the ASB Wish Car to reach their dream destinations: one more time in the stadium, to attend their granddaughter’s wedding, a special concert – for beautiful, shared memories.
Driven by the great common goal of doing good, the participants of the Mainova Frankfurt Marathon have again generated donations in 2024. During the Frankfurt Running Festival on the last weekend in October, the impressive sum of EUR 25,511.29 in donations for the ASB Rhein-Main Wish Car was raised around the event. This is the second-best donation result since the partnership began in 2017.
Race director Jo Schindler handed over the donation cheque on Wednesday in the regional office of the long-standing charity partner. Jo Schindler said: “It is fantastic to see year after year how much the participants in our event support the charity project and signal with their willingness to donate that the project is just as dear to their hearts as it is to us. This shows us the integrative power of sport in our society.”
The project, which is financed exclusively by donations and supported by volunteers, has been fulfilling last wishes in Hesse since 2017. The ASB Landesverband Hessen e.V. has been the charity partner of the oldest German city marathon with the project for just as long. Over the duration of the partnership, a total of EUR 131,848.23 in donations have already been generated at the Mainova Frankfurt Marathon for the ASB-Wünschewagen Rhein-Main and the “Wünschewagen – Last Wishes Dare” project.
Ludwig Frölich, 1st State Chairman of the ASB Hessen, said: “It is great that the ASB Wish Car Rhein-Main has been the official charity partner of the Mainova Frankfurt Marathon for so many years and has received so much support. This commitment would not be possible without the impressive commitment of Jo Schindler and his great team – our special thanks go to them. We also owe our heartfelt thanks to the many volunteers at the ASB, who with their tireless efforts help us to fulfil the last wishes of seriously ill people. This support is priceless.”
“We are delighted to be taking part in the Mainova Frankfurt Marathon again in 2025 with the ASB Wish Car Rhein-Main and to support the runners with our volunteers in the post-finish area,” says Martina Roth, project manager of the ASB Wish Car Rhein-Main at the ASB Hessen. “The collaboration with motion events is not only very successful, but also a lot of fun.” Anyone who would like to support the Mainova Frankfurt Marathon charity project has the opportunity to do so all year round. The items from the exclusive charity collection are available for sale in the event’s online shop at www.frankfurt-marathon.com/shop/.
