La Carrera del Pacífico - Cali 10K

The fourth edition of La Carrera del Pacifico Cali 10K, a 10-kilometre World Athletics Elite Label Road Race, will take place on 17 August 2025 in Colombia’s epicenter of sport, Cali.
Cali is considered the most biodiverse city in the world, it is surrounded by mountains and rivers where thousands of animal species make their home. The city is host to 560 different kind of birds, it is frequently visited by bird watching aficionados. The city of Cali is less than two hours away from Buenaventura, a port on Colombia’s Pacific coast famous for whale watching. The race is within the whale-watching period of June to September and race participants will have the chance to enjoy this wonderful experience.
The inaugural race in 2022 saw Olympic 5000 medalist Edwin Soi of Kenya capture the men’s title, while the reigning World Cross Country Tour champion Rahel Daniel, of Eritrea, won the women’s title. In the second edition new course records were established in the men’s and women’s races by Ezra Tanui of Kenya and Bertukan Welde of Ethiopia with defending champion Edwin Soi relegated to second place. And in 2024, the third edition saw yet another men’s record as Ezra Tanui defended his title in 28:05 while reigning African Games 10000m champion Gladys Kwamboka, also from Kenya exactly equaled the women’s record with her 32:19 win.
Beyond having a fast course this 10km race is a festival of energy and culture. The event is held conjunction with the Petronio Alvarez music and cultural festivals which celebrate the African-Colombian heritage. As participants navigate the course they will be accompanied by the energetic music of the Colombian Pacific region and immerse themselves in the city’s rich traditions. It is not surprising that recreational and elite runners from more than 20 countries have participated in the previous editions.
