Series of talks on running and health

Free running seminars in Münster for everyone

Dr. ralph schomaker z

Dr. Ralph Schomaker, Managing Director of the Center for Sports Medicine and also race doctor for the Volksbank Münster Marathon is starting a popular seminar series.

The general topic that is of interest to everyone: “Health – how does it work? Start instead of waiting: Effects of physical training on health and longevity” – a lecture that appeals to everyone.

This lecture is aimed at athletes, but also especially at non-athletes, who will certainly be encouraged to perhaps register for the free running course for complete beginners from March 26, 2025. Unfortunately, this time is marked by a worldwide wave of lifestyle-related diseases of civilization. This results in restrictions in quality of life and life expectancy that have never been seen before in the history of human development. What does a “life with style” look like and what does a health-promoting lifestyle change look like in concrete terms? How can each individual improve their quality of life and extend their healthy years through diet, exercise and other lifestyle changes?"

Date: Monday, March 10th at 7 p.m. (admission from 6.30 p.m.)

Venue: Westfälische Nachrichten office, WN Tickethop, Picassoplatz 3, 48143 Münster (There are no visitor parking spaces available on site. Public parking is available nearby.)

Regardless of participation in the Volksbank Münster Marathon, the 23rd edition of which starts on September 21st, the event is open to anyone interested. However, prior registration by email at info@volksbank-muenster-marathon.de is mandatory, as the participant limit is limited to 50 places.

Registrations will be considered in the order in which emails are received.

The other seminars, for which registrations are already being accepted, will take place as follows (each at 7 p.m. in the WN ticket shop):

April 7th: The successful path to the marathon: performance diagnostics and training planning for amateur athletes (speaker: Dr. med. Ralph Schomaker, ZfS Münster)

May 5th: The gastrointestinal tract in endurance running (speaker: chief physician PD Dr. med. Anton Gillessen, Herz Jesu Hospital Hiltrup)

June 2nd: Achilles tendon, heel spur & Co: tendon problems and their treatment (speaker: Dr. med. Gerrit Borgmann, ZfS Münster)

The organizers are looking forward to the continuation of the long-standing successful series of lectures, which is now being offered in person again, and hope for continued high participation.
