Moscow Marathon
Sat 20 September 2025
The 12th Moscow Marathon will take place in the Russian capital on 20–21 September 2025.
Participants will enjoy new routes passing by iconic landmarks and the city’s picturesque embankments. During these days, the metropolis will reveal a new side to the runners.
Both races will start near the Lomonosov Moscow State University, offering participants a panoramic view of the city. The 10 km race will take place on Saturday, 20 September while the marathon will be held on Sunday, 21 September.
Runners will see world-famous landmarks along the course, including some of the Stalinist skyscrapers (‘the Seven Sisters’), the Bolshoi Theatre, the FSB headquarters (Lubyanka Building), the Polytechnic Museum, the Kremlin, and the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour.
Runners will finish the race at the Luzhniki Olympic Complex: an iconic venue that has witnessed numerous sporting triumphs.
The Moscow Marathon is a member of the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS). In 2025, both courses of the Moscow Marathon were measured by Sergey Korneev, an AIMS Course Measurer.
The Moscow Marathon is also a member of the BRICS Marathon League, a project uniting the largest marathons in Russia (Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan), and marathons in Brazil, India, China, South Africa, and other BRICS countries in the near future.
