Flat, fast and scenic

The ASICS Gold Coast Marathon is held on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. The 2025 edition will be the largest ever field in the event’s 45-year history. A brand new race schedule will see the 42.195km signature race become the sole event on Sunday 6 July, 2025 with a sell-out field of 15,000 participants. This is an increase on the 10,000 participants who took part in the 2024 edition – which was also a sell-out. Marathon running is certainly alive and well in Australia!

The marathon will be supported by a ‘Super Saturday’ schedule of races on Saturday 5 July, 2025 with an anticipated further 20,000 participants across the China Airlines Half Marathon, Southern Cross University 10km, Gold Coast Airport 5km and Australia Fair 2km Junior Dash.

The ASICS Gold Coast Marathon is flat, fast and scenic. The course runs alongside the picturesque Pacific Ocean and Gold Coast Broadwater. It is one of the flattest courses in the world with an elevation gain of only 62m (and an elevation loss of 65m). Typically about 60% of runners have recorded personal best times.

The marathon start time is at 06:15 and with the event being held in the middle of the Australian winter participants can expect temperatures of 10 degrees Celsius at race start rising to 18 degrees Celsius by late morning with low humidity. It is a magical experience with the sun rising over the Pacific Ocean shortly after the race begins. Participants make their way south through the beach-side suburbs of Main Beach, the famous Surfers Paradise, Broadbeach and Miami. Along this section runners will have the ocean on their left and if they are lucky could catch a glimpse of a humpback whale on their southern migration route.

Participants make their southern turn at Miami about 15 kilometres into the race. The course then takes runners back north and they pass the start/finish area at approximately 31km when the marathon begins in earnest. Once runners have made the northern turn just before 37km they head back to the finish line alongside the Gold Coast Broadwater.

General entries for the 2025 ASICS Gold Coast Marathon and China Airlines Half Marathon have sold out but a limited number of entries are available via the official international travel agents and partner charities. The Gold Coast awaits!
