A further speaker has been announced for the AIMS Congress in Hanoi.
Man Nguyen’s experience with marathons started in 2014 as he joined the management board of DHA and took part in organizing one of the first marathon races in Vietnam – Halong Bay International Marathon.
Over 20 years experience in the communication field and some 15 years in the field of finance and business development has helped him to contribute to the development of DHA’s three races to Vietnam’s top marathon competitions.
As of 2024, Standard Chartered Hanoi Marathon is expected to become the largest running event in Vietnam, attracting some 17.000 local and international runners.
His presentation at Congress will be titled “Cultural Heritage and Marathon Running: Vietnam’s Unique Approach”.
The presentation introduces heritage races in Vietnam, starting with a video highlighting the cultural significance of Hanoi. In 2014, participation was low, and comparisons to European races revealed infrastructure challenges.
We then focused on Vietnam’s unique strength: its rich culture. They developed the “heritage” concept to integrate cultural elements into races through host locations, route designs, and services.
This approach has since attracted more international runners and sponsors. He emphasizes that culture is Vietnam’s competitive edge in developing marathon races, positioning it as a unique and appealing destination for runners worldwide.
