Madeira, internationally known as the Pearl of the Atlantic, is an island of stunning landscapes, mild climate and warm hospitality.

But it offers yet another reason to visit: the Funchal Marathon. This is an international sporting event, organized by the Madeira Athletics Association (AARAM), which takes place annually in the city of Funchal and attracts runners from many countries – mainly recreational but still highly competitive.

The Funchal Marathon is scheduled for 19 January 2025 at which time the temperature averages around 19ºC. The race promises to be an unforgettable experience for all participants, regardless of their goal.

This sporting event has three race distances: Marathon (42,195m); Half-Marathon (21,097.5m) and Mini-Marathon (8000m). The course winds through the picturesque city of Funchal, with a mostly flat route, offering magnificent views and perfect conditions both for those who want to compete, and for those who prefer to run at a more leisurely pace.

Whether you are an experienced marathoner or a beginner looking for a new challenge the Funchal Marathon has something to offer. Each route is carefully planned to ensure the safety and enjoyment of participants, with hydration stations at least every 5km and medical support throughout the route.

You can count on the greatest possible professionalism from the organization. From registration to the finish line participants can expect a flawless experience. On the days before of the event, the race office will be in operation to check in all athletes and deliver the participation kit which includes: bib and timing chip, event t-shirt and some typical Madeira gifts. The race office will also be able to provide answers for any possible questions you may have about the event.

Participating in the Funchal Marathon is also an opportunity to immerse yourself in the rich Madeiran culture. After the race, you can explore the charms of Funchal, from the delicious honey cake and magnificent espetadas to Madeira Wine and poncho. You can also enjoy our natural landscape through the levadas, viewpoints or sightseeing tours of the city. All this will make your trip an enjoyable, complete and rewarding experience.

Sign up now and be part of this extraordinary event – certainly an exciting and different challenge. Registration is now open on the official event website: www.madeiramarathon.com

Whatever your goal we will be there for you every step of the way. Don’t miss the opportunity to run in one of the most beautiful settings in the world and live a unique experience – physically challenging and socially rewarding.
