A captivating marathon for a five-star experience! The French Riviera Marathon Nice-Cannes is surpassed only by the Paris Marathon in terms of numbers.

Supported by the Department of Alpes-Maritimes and cities of Nice and Cannes, its running partner Kiprun and its gold partner Caisse d’Epargne Côte d’Azur will welcome over 15,000 runners on Sunday 3 November. The athletes will race from the famous Promenade des Anglais in Nice to the Croisette Boulevard in Cannes, a few metres from the steps of the legendary Palais des Festivals and facing the 5-star hotel Martinez by Hyatt.

Since its first edition in 2008 participants have praised the breathtaking beauty of the course between Nice and Cannes that passes through five iconic French Riviera towns: Saint-Laurent-du-Var, Cagnes-sur-Mer, Villeneuve-Loubet, Antibes Juan-les-Pins and Vallauris Golfe-Juan. Each of these towns brings a unique feel to the coastal course, offering a unique backdrop that combines snow-capped mountains and palm trees. Celebration, happy faces, music bands every 2 km and fancy dress are also common threads of the event.

This 16th edition should be rich in sporting and emotional memories. The elite athletes will be present once again and DJs will be located all along the 42.195 km route to support the runners. Thanks to the running brand Kiprun all participants will receive an official t-shirt (with a finisher mention for full marathon finishers as well) and backpack after crossing the finish line as well as the traditional medal.

The French Riviera Marathon Nice-Cannes will continue to reinforce its status as an international event. Last year the event welcomed athletes from more than 70 different nations with 30% of the field from overseas. The course record of 2:07:25 established in 2018 is held by Ethiopian athlete Abrha Millaw.

The French French Riviera Marathon Nice-Cannes is glad to again welcome La Banque Alimentaire des Alpes-Maritimes as the charity partner for this new edition and is proud to help in the struggle against poverty and food insecurity.

The French Riviera Marathon Nice-Cannes has been a member of AIMS organisation for many years and this label gives an international profile to the event regarding its quality and rigorous organisation. For the second consecutive year, the event has joined the Abbott World Marathon Majors group giving to Nice-Cannes Marathon finishers aged 40 and more the opportunity to be part of the series of ‘World Marathon Majors’ and gain points for the global ranking.

From its second edition the French Riviera Marathon Nice-Cannes has been open for companies and groups to participate in the Marathon Relay for teams of three to six runners. The French Riviera Relay Marathon, sponsored by Caisse d’Epargne Côte d’Azur, has attracted a record-breaking 400 teams in the best editions.

Since 2013 teams of two runners can complete a half-marathon each. More recently there has been an option to do 20km from Nice to Villeneuve-Loubet.

Around 100,000 spectators are expected on the 42.195km course to cheer and support the 15,000 participants expected during this superb event. The runners will set off at 08.00 on Sunday 3 November from the Promenade des Anglais in Nice.

Places are limited for every distance category. Last year the event was sold out several weeks before the deadline. Registrations by post are open until 29 October within the limit of the number of places available.
