The eDreams Mitja Marató Barcelona will open a new running season in Barcelona with a fast, flat and urban course, well suited to help you to improve your personal best over the 21.0975km distance.

Registrations for the 2024 race opened on 1 June for one of the most international and most important races in Barcelona, and in Catalonia. The race organisation intends to increase participation numbers and improve the running experience under a new slogan: “Fast or fun – but run!”

One month after the 34th edition of the eDreams Mitja Marató Barcelona, on 10 March, the 45th edition of the Zurich Marató Barcelona will be held. For the second consecutive year the two most important races of the Catalan capital have opened registration together on the same day, 1 June, as a sign of their strong sporting and social bond.

The organisers have set their goals for 2024 with the aim of constantly improving the experience of racing in Barcelona year after year. The eDreams Mitja Marató Barcelona is an exceptional race. Apart from being one of the most international races in the country the organisation will continue its commitment to increasing the total number of participants, as well as women’s presence. The challenge is to achieve 25,000 registrations next year, having sold out the 21,000 bibs that were available for 2023.

This year the eDreams Mitja Marató Barcelona, organised by the Ajuntament de Barcelona and RPM Sports, had a record number of women runners (7350 – 35% of the total number of participants) and a third (33%) of international runners, coming from 101 different nationalities. Kenyan elite runners Charles Kipkurui Langat and Irine Jepchumba, established new course records. Langat stopped the clock at 58:53, 13 seconds faster than the record set last year by Haftu Teklu (59:06). In the women’s race, Jepchumba crossed the finish line in 1:04:37 to set a new women’s course record by bettering Florence Kiplagat’s former world record time of 2015 (1:05:09).

For 2024 the eDreams Mitja Marató Barcelona launches a new slogan with the intention of consolidating the city as the key part of this event. The purpose is to involve its citizens to the maximum, so that they can take part in these sporting events and feel the pride and the significance of the one of the great days of popular athletics in Barcelona for both international visitors and locals. ‘Fast or fun – but run’ is the new concept for the eDreams Mitja Marató Barcelona 2024. A phrase that sums up in a few words the essence of this race: a fast but fun circuit favourable for setting personal best times, international but local at the same time, where the most important thing is to have a good time.
