ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon
Sat 17 December 2022
The city is steeped in UAE culture and history while simultaneously offering a multitude of attractions, entertainment opportunities and leisure activities such as the Abu Dhabi Louvre, Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, the Yas Marina Circuit and outdoor activities both at the beach and in the desert. Runners can extend their stay and enjoy a warm weather holiday away from the cold European winter. The event is designed to be inclusive so that the whole community can partake.
Participants have an array of race options to choose from, accessible to all running abilities. Apart from the Marathon there is a Marathon Relay (of 2), a 10km and a 5km as well as a 2.5km fun run. The Marathon route passes the various iconic landmarks of Abu Dhabi including the ADNOC Tower, Corniche Road, Qasr Al Hosn, the World Trade centre, the UAE Flag, the Founder’s Memorial and the Crown Prince Court. The shorter runs take place along the corniche road by the sea. There are various forms of entertainment along the route for runners to enjoy and they can keep well hydrated by using the aid stations placed every 2km throughout the race. Complimentary Nike technical jerseys are provided to all participants.
The event aims to be more than just a race; it is a celebration of the community. It promotes key messages across the city of sustainability, community engagement, a healthy lifestyle and year-round wellness. To support these themes we have dedicated sponsors to handle all the waste management and plastic recycling as well as multiple activities and a 5-day event village open to the public.
When the ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon was launched in 2018 it gained immediate popularity among residents and tourists alike. There were 10,000 participants in the first edition and 16,500 in the following year. The ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon is forecasting a record of 20,000 participants in its fourth edition later this year.
See you at the starting line in Abu Dhabi on 17 December 2022.
