Copenhagen Marathon
Sun 16 May 2021
Denmark’s largest annual marathon will be held for the 42nd consecutive year in 2021. A record number of entries were received in 2019 with 13,313 runners taking part in the 40th anniversary race. That was also the year when the Copenhagen Marathon was awarded a World Athletics Road Race Bronze Label.
The loop course remains extremely flat as it threads its way through the city centre and surrounding neighbourhoods. It takes you past places such as the parliament building Christiansborg, the old Stock Exchange “Børsen” and the New Harbour. It makes the course great for sightseeing and extremely spectator-friendly.
The Marathon is known not only as a well-organised race but also an intense street party for runners with a mind-blowing number of music bands and entertainment along the course. Combined with the energetic crowds that line the course from start to finish you get a unique race with an upbeat atmosphere.
The combination of a flat and beautiful course through a liveable, open and friendly city in which it is easy to get around makes the Copenhagen Marathon an ideal choice for experienced runners as well as first-time marathoners.
